"Within the next ten days or so, we will present a waste management strategy for discussion, to be followed shortly by a new Environment Protection Bill and a new Nature Protection Bill," Holy told the press in Zagreb when asked about activities planned by her ministry in the next 100 days.
Holy said that the bills would be submitted to the European Commission for approval and then would be discussed by the government. "I hope we will have all three bills enacted by Parliament by the end of June."
When asked if there were any disagreements between her ministry and the Economy Ministry over the project to build the thermal power plant Plomin 3, Holy said that there had been some misunderstanding. She said that as far as she knew, Economy Minister Radimir Cacic had announced that an international tender would be issued before summer to find a strategic partner for that project, but that that did not mean actual implementation of the project. She said that it was hard to expect that its construction would be begin before 2014 given all environmental and building permits that needed to be obtained.
