ROME, Dec 1 (Hina) - "We can be very satisfied with a communiqué from
the CSCE ministerial meeting," said Croatian Foreign Minister Mate
Granic in a conversation with Croatian journalists following the two-day
gathering in Rome on Wednesday evening.
Croatia's permanent representative at the CSCE, Darko Bekic, said that
the meeting mainly revolved around the European Union's plan for Croatia
and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The communiqué said that ministers welcomed the resumption of peace
talks in Geneva, which was a result of the European Union plan. It also
said that the mutual recognition of Croatia and the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia was one of the basic elements for stability in bilateral
relations and in the whole region.
The meeting took the view that the situation in the UNPAs obstructed
the territorial integrity of Croatia, that the areas must be
reintegrated into the Croatian system in a peaceful way, and that a
modus vivendi must be found in the area under UN protection. The
communiqué also mentioned a possibility of sending CSCE negotiators,
which must be in coordination with the UNPROFOR operation and the Geneva
talks.
