DECLARATION OF FOREIGN MINISTERS OF CENTRAL EUROPE'S INITIATIVE

Autor:
INITIATIVE $ DEBRECEN, Nov 20 (Hina) - Foreign ministers of the countries- members of the Central Europe's Initiative, that had held their conference in the Hungarian town of Debrecen, adopted their Joint Declaration as the conclusion of their two-day talks on the issue of the former Yugoslavia, as well as on the other political and economic issues of the Central Europe's Initiative. Expressing their great concern over the current situation in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, in this Declaration the foreign ministers welcomed U.N.S.C. Resolution 871 and requested the immediate implementation of that document of the U.N. Security Council (U.N.S.C.) be undertaken. The foreign ministers also pointed out the importance of the full reintegration of UNPAs in Croatia, as well as of making it possible for the displaced persons and refugees to return to their homes. At the same time they stressed that it should be necessary to enable that territorial and cultural autonomy be established in the regions where members of the Serb ethnic minority were most numerous residents according to the latest population census. The Declaration said:" In this context, the ministers consider the latest proposals of the Croatian Government as a recommendable step in the further peace process in Croatia." The foreign ministers also supported the latest ideas of the European Union and the International Conference on the Former Yugoslavia concerning a solution to the crisis in that area. The foreign ministers of the Central Europe's Initiative called on the Bosnian Serbs to stop shelling Sarajevo and other regions, whereas they called on the Moslem-dominated B-H Army and the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) to stop their conflict in Central Bosnia as well as in Herzegovina. The foreign ministers supported the demands of those Central Europe's Initiative's countries, that are still not members of the Council of Europe, to be admitted to the full membership of that European organization. 201556 MET nov 93
