ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - Answering a series of questions by deputies to
the House of Counties on the reintegration of the UN Protected Areas and
a solution to the crisis in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Deputy Prime
Minister and Foreign Minister of Croatia, Mate Granic, stressed that a
modus vivendi for the UNPAs is beginning to acquire its final form. It
is a dynamic process of reintegrating the UNPAs into the constitutional
and legal order of Croatia, the first stage of which would include
cessation of fire, opening of communications and restoration of water
and electricity supplies, while the second stage would include a final
agreement.
Asked about the "flexibility" of the Croatian policy, Minister Granic
replied that the Croatian President's peace initiative was very clear,
that it provided the strongest answer that there could be no discussion
on the Croatian state borders, and the Croatia denied all speculations
regarding Baranja region.
Commenting on a proposal put forward by Austrian Foreign Minister Alois
Mock on international supervision of refugee centres in Croatia,
Minister Granic said that Croatia could accept care for, and not
supervision of, those centres. He estimated as welcome a proposal that
all hospitals in Bosnia-Herzegovina and access routes to them be placed
under supervision of the World Health Organization.
Minister Granic said that Croatia in no way supported inter-Moslem
conflicts in West Bosnia. Spreading of the conflict could result in a
new wave of a hundred thousand refugees, Granic stressed.
