OSIJEK, Nov 22 (Hina) - Analyzing a report from a Geneva news
conference at which EC mediator Lord Owen did not deny an
allegation that he himself had offered Croatian President Tudjman
to cede Baranja and eastern Slavonia, the Beli Manastir municipal
authorities voiced deep concern and indignation at such acts by
the most responsible people involved in seeking a solution to the
crisis in former Yugoslavia, said a statement issued by the Beli
Manastir authorities on Monday.
Beli Manastir is located in Serb-occupied Baranja region, UNPA
East.
The municipal leadership will call on the Croatian Foreign
Ministry to send a note of the strongest protest with the UN
Security Council over an irresponsible and provocative statement
by Lord Owen.
Stressing that his proposal had disturbed the Croatian public,
particularly the refugees from Baranja and eastern Slavonia, the
statement said the municipal leadership supported the view of the
Croatian Parliament and President that talks about the change of
borders could not be tolerated.
