ZAGREB, Dec 14 (Hina) - Today's VECERNJI LIST carries a front-page
article headlined "International Law on Croatian side" on the
process of succession from the former Yugoslav federation.
"The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro)
offers to recognize Croatia within its internationally accepted
borders, asking in return for Croatia's recognition of Yugoslav
continuity, which it could not obtain through any international
legal act, the FRY is trying to shorten its way to the
international community " Vecernji List writes.
"Croatia must show its teeth!", Social-Democratic Party leader
Ivica Racan said in an interview with the paper. "I think a
decisive policy reduces the possibility of war while a bad policy
increases the prospect of solving the problems by war. But the
question is how and with what results," Racan said.
VJESNIK leads with an article on the Russian attack on the
self-proclaimed Republic of Chechnya.
The newspaper writes about Sunday's electoral assembly of the
Croatian Farmer's Party saying "the HSS, which chose Zlatko Tomcic
to be its president at Sunday's election, confirmed itself as pme
the most stable and promising parties in Croatia."
The paper includes a commentary headlined "Has Valentic
Promised Too Much" in response to the Prime Minister's statement
that the Government promises low inflation, currency stability,
production growth, higher living standard, fresh investments and
companies restructuring if Parliament endorses the 1995 Budget.
