ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman received
the Speaker of the Norwegian Parliament, Kristi Kolle Grondahl, the
President's office said today in a statement.
The talks focused on the settlement of the crisis in Croatia
and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Grondahl welcomed the establishment of the Federation of
Bosnia-Herzegovina and offered Norway's support in the peaceful
resolution of the problem of Croatia's occupied areas, the
statement said.
President Tudjman outlined the causes of the crisis and
Croatia's peace efforts.
He said the Serb extremists in the occupied areas were using
UNPROFOR's presence to freeze the occupation, Cyprus-wise.
"If the reintegration of the occupied areas does not start
according to schedule, we may find ourselves compelled to reject
another UNPROFOR mandate," President Tudjman said.
He added that Croatia guaranteed the Serbs all civil and
ethnic rights under international supervision.
Speaker Groendahl said she hoped the occupied areas would be
reintegrated by peaceful means.
Also present were the President's foreign-policy advisor
Zeljko Matic, the Norwegian charge d'affaires, Arne Lundby, and
deputy chairman of the Parliament's foreign-policy committee,
Bozidar Petrac.
