ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman today
received representatives of international labour organisations and
national trade unions from 21 countries, who are attending a
congress of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia.
President Tudjman said the creation of an independent and
democratic Croatia had created favourable conditions for the
unimpeded work of labour organisations.
Croatia supported a political settlement of the crisis in
former Yugoslavia and the establishment of a new world order in the
region, President Tudjman said.
"We want to normalise relations with all nations and states
emerging from former Yugoslavia, including Serbia, but on the basis
of mutual recognition," he said.
President Tudjman said the reintegration of occupied areas
under Croatian rule would enable Croatia to focus on its internal
development.
He said Croatia was considering rejecting another UN mandate
on its land if Serbs did not agree to a peaceful reintegration of
occupied areas.
Discussing the agenda of the labour congress, President
Tudjman referred to ownership transformation and privatisation. He
said Croatia's labour legislation, when passed, would conform to
the highest international standards.
He dwelt on the results of the stabilisation scheme,
particularly the inflation decrease and the stable national
currency.
Union chief Dragutin Lesar presented President Tudjman with a
cassette of the Croatian Labour Anthem.
