OSIJEK, Nov 8 (Hina) - The commander of the Croatian Army in the
Osijek district, Major General Djuro Decak, last night met the head
of the EU Monitor Mission, Paul Joachim von Stuelpnagel.
They discussed the military, security and political conditions
in UN Protected Area of Croatia, Sector East.
After the talks Gen. Decak said he had informed the EU Monitor
Mission head of the situation in the area, and of rebel Serbs'
attempt to construct a bridge over the Drava River near Sarvas in
order to be better connected in the occupied areas. Croatia
regarded such a move as absolutely unacceptable, Gen. Decak
stressed.
The head of the EU Monitor Mission said the observers had a
precise insight into the developments on the ground and they were
to inform EU of it.
He said the rebel Serbs near Novska had prevented him to enter
UNPA Sector West, although the EU Monitor Mission representatives
had the unlimited freedom of movement.
