NORWEGIAN PARLIAMENT SPEAKER'S PRESS CONFERENCE AT ZAGREB AIRPORT

Autor:
ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - Norwegian Parliament Speaker Ms. Kirsti Kolle Groendahl held a brief press conference at Zagreb Airport this evening after one-day visit to the Croatian capital before departing for Split. Ms. Groendahl said she had already visited Zagreb two years ago when she, as Norwegian Parliament deputy speaker, had collected aid for women victims of the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. She was now to journey to Tuzla, northeast Bosnia, in order to dispatch another shipment of humanitarian aid for war victims as well as to visit Norwegian UN soldiers, deployed there. She would stay in Tuzla until November 8. At the press conference she described Norwegian-Croatian and Norwegian-Bosnian relations as very good. Asked about the admittance of Norway to the European Union she said that the forthcoming referendum due to take place on Nov. 28 on Norway's joining EU would be more difficult than the voting in neighbouring Sweden. She feared her people would cast more vote against joining EU than in favour of such decision. She would like that Norway could become an EU member. (hina) mms 052101 MET nov 94
