ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic today
met Slovene Ambassador Matija Malesic to protest over the
Municipalities Act passed by Slovenia's Parliament on October 3.
The act says that four Croatian villages south of the Dragonja
River are to be incorporated into the Slovene municipality of
Piran, a Croatian Foreign Ministry statement said.
Granic said the Slovene Parliament's decision was a unilateral
act jeopardizing all efforts aimed at developing good bilateral
relations. He added that it would affect talks on disputable issues
between the two countries.
Granic told the Slovene Ambassador that the Croatian
Parliament and Government would also discuss the problem and that
he would support international arbitration to resolve such issues.
Granic noted that Croatia had so far tried to solve all
disputes, particularly border issues, in the spirit of good
neighbourly relations, and that it was willing to continue
cooperation with Slovenia in the same spirit.
