ZAGREB, Oct 4, (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic today
received the International War Crimes Court chief prosecutor
Richard Goldstone, the Foreign Ministry said.
Granic said Croatia would assist with the work of the Court.
He described the Court's success as a prerequisite for fair peace
in the region.
The international community had to ensure that people accused
of war crimes from countries that did not want to co-operate with
the Court, be brought to trial, Granic said.
Goldstone agreed. In such cases the Court would seek the
assistance of the International Community and the UN Security
Council.
Goldstone earlier today also met the Croatian Government vice
president, Ivica Kostovic.
Kostovic said Goldstone had proposed that a Croatian liaison
officer be appointed to the Court in the Hague and that an office
of the International Court be opened in Croatia.
