PAKRAC, Oct 2 (Hina) - Members of the UN Jordanian battalion
yesterday blocked the Bukovcanska Street in Lipik near the Croatian
police check-point on the road towards Donji Caglic, requesting
that the Croatian police should leave the area around the Street,
including a check-point near the petrol station.
Representatives of the local authorities today held talks
behind closed doors with UN Commander in Sector West General Saraj
Raj Sharma and civil affairs co-ordinator Husein Al Alfi.
According to Croatian civil affairs co-ordinator for Sector
West, Vladimir Delac, the Croatian side rejected the UNPROFOR
request because the check-point was included in an agreement
between the Croatian Government and the UNPROFOR command.
Croatian police will remain to control the area in the
conformity with the order of the Interior Ministry.
Since the UNPROFOR do not accept such a solution, negotiations
will be resumed at a higher level, said Delac.
