SARAJEVO, Oct 2 (Hina) - The Sarajevo-based "Vrhbosna" and "Hayat"
radio stations had to cease broadcasting their programmes since
October 1 by decree of the Director of the government-controlled
Radio and Television of Bosnia-Herzegovina (RTV BiH), Ms. Amila
Omersoftic. The government-controlled RTV BiH made such a decision
one-sidedly and broke off unilaterally an agreement on leasing some
frequencies to the above-mentioned radio stations.
The "Vrhbosna" radio station was established by the Bosnian
Croats' cultural association "Napredak" in 1993. The station could
broadcast its programme at the frequencies of former Second
Programme of the government-held Sarajevo Radio in line with the
agreement.
The director of the RTV BiH, Ms. Omersoftic, explained that
the decree on breaking off the agreements with the "Vrhbosna" and
"Hayat" radio stations had been based on the Bosnian government's
decision to return all leased frequencies to the Sarajevo Radio.
