ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Speaker of the Croatian Parliament's House
of Counties Katica Ivanisevic responded today to an open letter by
the Co-ordination of Croatian parliamentary opposition parties, in
which the opposition expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that
she had not called a session to discuss the role and mandate of the
UN Protection Force in Croatia.
The speaker reminds that the House of Counties discussed the
UNPROFOR's inefficiency on 21 June 1994 and that it informed the
House of Representatives about its views on that problem. At the
initiative of the House of Counties, the House of Representatives
decided to call an emergency session to discuss the UNPROFOR's
mandate, said Katica Ivanisevic. "In that way each Parliament's
house fulfills those tasks which are in conformity with its
constitutional competencies," stressed Katica Ivanisevic.
