ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - The Coordination of Croatian parliamentary
opposition parties wrote a letter to speaker of the upper Chamber
of Counties of the Croatian Parliament Katica Ivanisevic, voicing
displeasure that she had not called a session to discuss the role
and mandate of the UN Protection Force in Croatia.
The open letter asked "why those responsible for convening
sessions of the Chamber of Counties think that the return of
Croatian citizens to currently occupied Croatian counties or the
restoration of Croatian sovereignty in the entire, internationally
recognized Croatian state is the subject of no concern of county
deputies elected to the Chamber of Counties."
"The opposition parties of the Chamber of Counties fully
support the statement by the opposition parties and independent
deputies in the (lower) Chamber of Representatives regarding the
inefficiency of the UNPROFOR mandate," said the open letter signed
by representatives of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), the
Croatian Farmers' Party (HSS), the Istrian Democratic Union (IDS),
the Croatian Independent Democrats (HND), the Social Democratic
Party (SDP) and the Croatian National Party (HNS).
