ZAGREB, June 15 (Hina) - Secretary-general of the ruling HDZ party
Jure Radic talked to journalists on Wednesday about views of the
HDZ ahead of tomorrow's negotiations with the parliamentary
opposition parties on distribution of leading parliamentary posts.
Radic said there was no doubt that the work of the Croatian
Parliament was legal, as well as recent decisions on relieving of
duties and on electing new chairmen of both Houses of the
Parliament. The Parliament is the only body which can interpret the
Rules of Procedure, and sessions of both Parliament's Houses are
legal when majority of delegates are present there.
At tomorrow's inter-party meeting, HDZ representatives will
invite opposition to participate in sessions of the House of
Counties and House of representatives scheduled for the next week,
said Radic.
Radic stressed that the opposition's interpretation saying
that HDZ does not accept their candidates was wrong. "We support
the principle that each candidate should be put on the vote. We
have not insisted that Mesic and Manolic should not be the
opposition's candidates, but we insist that their candidacy, as any
other candidacy, should be put on the vote in both Houses of
Parliament," said Radic.
