ZAGREB, July 7 (Hina) - We went to Bosnia-Herzegovina to look into
the situation there and not to give advice, president of the
Council of Europe's parliamentary assembly Miguel Angel Martinez
told reporters at Zagreb Airport upon return from Sarajevo on
Thursday.
We expressed our solidarity and support for the battle that is
being fought in Sarajevo and Bosnia-Herzegovina for the values
advocated by the Council of Europe, Martinez said.
Speaking of the role of the European Union and the Council of
Europe in solving the crisis in the former Yugoslavia, Martinez
said he did not feel ashamed but proud for what had been done.
The European Union has done more than anybody else, he said,
adding that however it had failed to prevent the crisis and that it
still had not found a final peaceful solution. He noted that this
did not mean that the EU should share the blame for the situation
in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
