ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister, Dr. Mate Granic, received today the chairman of the
Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly, Angel Martinez.
Minister Granic said that Croatia atached great importance to
including into integrational processes and despite all difficulties
it tried to meet conditions for its full membership in the Council
of Europe as soon as possible.
Minister Granic informed A. Martinez of the state of affairs
in Croatia, particularly in its occupied areas, and emphasized that
Croatia would like to carry out the peaceful reintegration of those
areas into its constitutional and legal system.
Speaking of Croatia's relations with its neighbouring
countries Minister Granic reiterated that Croatia tended to solve
all open questions by dialogues.
A. Martinez said he was aware of difficult circumstances
under which Croatia was now and that such circumstances were
imposed on this country, and, therefore, Croatia should not be
punished. He mentioned that the Council of Europe experts would
visit Croatia in September in order to report on the how much
Croatia's legal system met European standards.
