ZAGREB, May 4 (Hina) - The Belgian company Interbrew bought 23.78
per cent of shares of the Croatian brewery Zagrebacka Pivovara on
Wednesday. The contract was signed in Zagreb by president of the
Croatian Privatization Fund Ivan Penic and president of Interbrew's
executive committee Hans H. Meerloo.
Penic said it was the first major foreign investment in
Croatia.
Zagrebacka Pivovara has an annual production of 800 thousand
hectolitres of beer and covers about 28 per cent of the Croatian
market.
Interbrew is the biggest Belgian brewery and the fifth in
Europe.
