SPLIT, Jan 7 (Hina) - The commander of the UN British Battalion,
Brigadier John G. Reith, told a Hina reporter in Split on Friday
that the excavation of a mass grave near Krizancevo village
continued today. He said 27 young men in HVO (Croatian Defence
Council) uniforms had been found so far, an estimated third of the
total number of victims.
The British officer said the HVO had delivered a list of names
and other information. "Three people from the list have been found
in detention in Zenica, and judging by what we have seen, they are
treated correctly. We know nothing about others, but hope the
investigation will show what happened with them." he said.
Asked to comment on the military situation in central Bosnia,
Brigadier Reith said he had talked to the highest HVO and Bosnian
Army officers and concluded that "unless a political solution is
found soon, the war will continue even more brutally."
