TOMISLAVGRAD, May 28 (Hina) - UN special rapporteur on human
rights, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, today visited the Tomislavgrad
municipality in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Mazowiecki and his associates discussed the human rights
situation with Tomislavgrad mayor Mijo Tokic.
Tokic produced data on the pre-war ethnic structure of
Tomislavgrad and the present ethnic structure of the town council.
"Most Serb residents moved out during the Serb aggression on
Kupres and Tomislavgrad," Tokic said.
"When Croat-Moslem clashes erupted in central Bosnia, a number
of Moslems moved out from Tomislavgrad, but without any police or
political pressure," he said.
"Nobody drove the Moslems out of the town. All the citizens
have always enjoyed the full freedom of movement," he said.
Moslem residents were now returning to Tomislavgrad, but
encountered housing problems, because Croat refugees from Bugojno,
Travnik and Jajce had moved into their abandoned houses.
Tomislavgrad was presently providing for seven thousand refugees.
After the meeting, Mazowiecki visited the local mosque and the
Serb Orthodox church.
