GANIC EXPECTS NATO AIR STRIKES TO CONTINUE

SARAJEVO, May 26 (Hina) - Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ejup Ganic, today said he was expecting NATO air strikes on Bosnian Serb positions to continue after Serbs refused General Smith's ultimatum and continued attacking UN- protected areas in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Speaking at a press conference, Ganic confirmed that he talked with General Smith immediately after the expiry of the ultimatum. But he would not reveal any details. The Bosnian army was fully prepared, but Serbs had not attacked its positions so far. They were exclusively attacking civilian targets in UN-protected areas, Ganic said. Serb attacks killed three and wounded seven Sarajevans this morning. Parts of the Novo Sarajevo and Novi Grad municipalities were under constant cannon and mortar attacks, he said.Serbs also opened fire on the Bosnian Television building. After the international community and NATO had taken the first step, they should follow it through and force Serbs with new air strikes to return to the negotiation table, Ganic said. The Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina today condemned last night's Serb attack on Tuzla, at an emergency session held today.
