ZAGREB, May 25 (Hina) - The UN rapporteur only brought up some
generalised allegations about the violation of human rights in
western Slavonia, but could not cite any concrete cases, Croatian
Interior Minister, Ivan Jarnjak, told reporters following talks
with the UN special rapporteur on human rights, Tadeusz Mazowiecki.
The pair discussed the protection of human rights and alleged
violations of Serb human rights in western Slavonia during and
after the recent liberation operation.
Jarnjak acquainted Mazowiecki with official data and the fact
that international organisations had "officially identified
practically no cases of human rights violations" so far.
According to Jarnjak, Mazowiecki agreed and decided to ask his
informants to supply details about concrete cases.
Asked to comment reports on a mass grave near Okucani and
another near Vrbovljani, Jarnjak flatly denied their existence.
"There are burial places for those who have been identified.
Representatives of relevant international organisations can come
and see them, and the list of the buried, at any time," he said.
