PAKRAC, May 23 (Hina) - Croatian Assistant Interior Minister, Josko
Moric, met the UN Civil Affairs Chief, Michel Moussali, yesterday
in Pakrac.
Also present were UN civilian police chief Fredrikson and US
embassy officials, Andrew Hamilton and Steven Kemp.
The UN was satisfied with the way Croatian police treated
citizens in the newly-liberated part of western Slavonia, Moussali
told reporters after the meeting.
"The UN civilian police are working together with the Croatian
police - they have confirmed that Croatian police are acting quite
professionally and doing their best to persuade all civilians that
they are safe and that nobody is being discriminated against,"
Moussali said, expressing high regards for Moric's
"cooperativeness".
Moric said the security situation in western Slavonia was
"very good".
"We are all very glad that the security situation in the
newly-liberated western Slavonia is very good. No ethnic-motivated
attempts against persons and property have been registered," Moric
said.
