GOSPIC, May 13 (Hina) - The Croatian army has withdrawn from
several observation posts in the separation zone in former Sector
South in order to lessen tensions, the Gospic-based Croatian army
command said today in a statement.
The statement noted that European Union representatives and
UN monitors had been informed of that fact at a joint meeting
held on May 12 in the local Croatian army command.
The Croatian army withdrew this morning from the observation
post of Repetitor-Trla, and yesterday from the observation post
of Konjska Glava.
The Croatian army was enabling the full and effective
functioning of UN monitors and showing readiness for a peaceful
reintegration of temporarily occupied areas into the
constitutional and legal system of Croatia; it also wanted its
citizens in the occupied areas to feel safe, the statement said.
Croatian army representatives expressed their
dissatisfaction with reports issued by the UNMO (UN Military
Observers) command in Knin, because they never mentioned that
the Croatian army had withdrawn from the separation zone,
although UN monitors could have seen that for themselves, the
statement said.
