SARAJEVO, April 9 (Hina) - Nine strong detonations echoed in
Sarajevo overnight, UN military observers reported on Sunday.
Two shells exploded near the Zetra sports facilities, where
Danish UN peace keepers are now accommodated. Most of detonations
were registered in the municipality of Stari Grad, the very centre
of Sarajevo.
A spokeswoman for UN, Myriam Sohacko, said this morning that
it was still unknown what kind of projectiles had hit the Bosnian
capital, and added that an investigation into the incident was in
progress.
Bosnian Army's sources said that Serbs had launched 120mm
mortar shells on Sarajevo and wounded a 60-year-old man.
Another three explosions rocked the Sarajevo downtown last
night when the city was put on general alert at 08:20 pm Saturday.
Afterwards UN military observers undertook an investigation in
order to find out origins of the explosions.
A spokesman for UN, Pierre Chavancy, said shortly after 10:00
pm last night that one of the shells had exploded near Zetra.
Another shell landed in the Stari grad municipality, according to
UN reports.
Sarajevo Airport is to be closed on Sunday as well. According
to UN spokeswoman Sohacko, UN Protection Force will ask additional
security guarantees from both sides. Only when such guarantees have
been obtained, the Sarajevo airlift may resume.
