ZAGREB, March 22 (Hina) - The Croatian House of Representative
committee for electing, appointing and administrative affairs today
decided to appoint the head and members of the Committee of the
50th anniversary of the Bleiburgh victims.
On May 15, 1945, the Former Yugoslav army (the so-called JNA),
killed dozens of thousand civilians and soldiers of the Independent
State of Croatia (NDH) at Bleiburgh, Austria, and on the way from
Zagreb to Austria, while the victims were fleeing to the West.
Parliamentary Speaker Nedjeljko Mihanovic was appointed as the
chairman of the committee which consists of 120 members.
Sixtyfive of the committee members are parliamentary deputies,
mostly members of the committee for victims of the World War II and
post-war period.
The other members are government officials, representatives of
the non-governmental agencies and prominent public personalities.
