VIENNA, March 14 (Hina) - A meeting to mark the signing of the
Washington accords of 18 March 1994 on establishing a Moslem-Croat
federation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, was held in Vienna today.
It was agreed that the strengthening of the Bosnian federation
and its confederation with Croatia was in the interest of both
Croats and Moslems in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Austrian Foreign Minister Alois Mock said progress in
establishing the Bosnian federation should be faster.
Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic said he was not
optimistic about peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina but that he was
optimistic about the future of the Bosnian federation because it
was in the interest of both nations.
Federation president Kresimir Zubak and his deputy, Ejup
Ganic, pointed out differences in the approach to the federation
project.
Zubak said Bosnian Croats wanted the federation to be
organized as a community of nations with equal rights.
Ganic said Bosnian Moslems expected the federation to be
divided into cantons.
It was in the interest of all parties that everything was done
to stimulate the establishment of the federation, United States
envoy to Bosnia-Herzegovina Robert Frasure said.
Today's meeting was sponsored by the Austrian Foreign Ministry
and the US Embassy in Vienna.
