ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - Eight opposition parties in the Croatian
Parliament House of Representatives today proposed a debate on the
UN Protection Force mandate to be included in the agenda.
Opposition parties said there had been conflicting media
reports on the continuation of the peacekeeping mission in Croatia,
ranging from those saying that the mandate had been extended to
those that the mandate would be changed.
The Opposition believed that, regardless of the mandate, the
conclusions and resolutions of the House of Representatives under
which the UNPROFOR mandate was expiring on March 31, were called
into question.
Opposition parties therefore urged the Foreign Minister to
report to the House on the Croatian government's views on the
UNPROFOR mandate and its decisions on extending UN peacekeepers'
stay in Croatia.
