ZAGREB, March 13 (Hina) - Croatian Minister and the head of the
Government office for displaced persons and refugees, Adalbert
Rebic, today received a newly-appointed chief of the European Union
Mission in Croatia for assistance in the enforcement of sanctions,
Steen Vogelius, the office for displace persons and refugees said.
Rebic and Vogelius discussed the implementation of UN Security
Council resolutions concerning Croatia's control over commodity
trade from occupied Croatian areas and from Bosnia-Herzegovina in
line with the sanctions that UN has imposed on Bosnian Serbs as
well as on Serbia and Montenegro, a statement read.
Vogelius expressed his satisfaction with the present
cooperation with the Government office for displaced persons and
refugees, which controls the humanitarian goods transport bound to
UN Protected Areas (UNPAs) of Croatia and to Bosnia-Herzegovina's
areas occupied by Serbs.
The talks focused on measures that should be taken so as to
efficiently control the trade between particular UN Protected Areas
in Croatia as well as the trade through Croatia to Bosnian areas
held by Serbs. The talks also pointed out problems in control of
goods transport from UNPA Sector North through Bosnia-Herzegovina
to UNPA Sectors West and East.
It was suggested that the Government office should assume
control over entire Bosnia-bound humanitarian aid that is
transported through Croatia in order to prevent violations of
sanctions, the statement concluded.
