ZAGREB, March 3 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister, Mate Granic,
today received the general secretary of the European Confederation
of Trade Unions, Emilio Gabaglio, the Foreign Ministry said in a
statement.
Also present at the meeting were Croatian labour leaders,
Dragutin Lesar, Niko Gunjina and Mladen Mesic.
Granic summed up Croatia's proposal for the peaceful
reintegration of the occupied areas after UNPROFOR's departure,
stressing that Croatia would stick to its decision to end the
UNPROFOR mandate but would do its best to achieve a peaceful
settlement.
Granic also said the Government would soon draw up labour and
social welfare bills, in line with European standards, to the
extent that it was feasible in Croatia.
Gabaglio expressed understanding for the difficult situation
of the Croatian economy. He supported Croatia's efforts to resolve
the problem of the occupied areas by peaceful means.
The Confederation would support Croatia's entrance into the
European integration processes.
Gabaglio also praised the continuation of the social dialogue
in Croatia.
