SPLIT, March 2 (Hina) - The Split District Attorney yesterday
pressed charges against JNA (Yugoslavi People's Army) captain
Rajko S. Radulovic, suspected of torturing and killing prisoners-
of-war in violation of the international law.
Radulovic commanded the 221st "Krajina" battalion which
attacked and occupied the villages of Hrvace, Bajagic and Rumin
(in the Knin area) in September 1991, capturing twenty Croatian
army soldiers.
Radulovic allegedly tortured the prisoners to obtain
intelligence of Croatian army movements. When they would not
speak, he shot three of them point blank and ordered the others
to be taken to the Knin jail.
Several days later, Radulovic allegedly ordered his
subordinates to shoot another three prisoners.
The others were exchanged for Serb prisoners after a month.
Radulovic will be tried in absentia, since he is still with
the Knin army, where he was promoted to major.
