LIVNO, Feb 14 (Hina) - A Bosnian army raid of the Croat community
centre in Bugojno on February 11 only made the position of Croats
in this town in southwestern Bosnia more difficult.
Croat officials from Bugojno, currently in exile in Livno,
said today the Bosnian army planned to use the Croatian community
building as headquarters for one of its units.
Croat calls for protection to Bugojno police went unheeded,
exiled authorities said.
They reported a growing number of apartment evicitions and
property looting, saying that police did nothing to prevent them.
All cars with registration plates issued by the Croat Republic
of Herzeg-Bosnia cannot enter Bugojno. Moslem-led Bosnian army
patrols stop the cars and remove such registration plates.
The Bugojno municipality had a pre-war population of 46,849.
According to the 1991 census, there were 15,963 Croats or 34.2
percent. Today there are fewer than a thousand Croats in the
Bugojno area.
