ZADAR, Feb 15 (Hina) - Houses ruined during Serb occupation in
Crno, near Zadar, have started to be reconstructed.
A Swiss humanitarian agency which specialises in providing aid
for natural disasters, has taken on the housing reconstruction
offering to repair the houses to a mininum standard.
So far 52 owners can move back into their houses, and by the
end of June another 124 houses expected to be completed.
However, only 15 families who have been granted a loan for
reconstruction, have retuned to their homes. The other families can
also expect to receive loans for this purpose, a local official
Franko Marnika said.
He emphasized that Serb villagers who remained in the
unoccupied territory of Croatia were also included in the
reconstruction program.
Three Serb houses have been already reconstructed.
The houses of Serbs who defected to the Serb side, would not
be rebuilt because the Swiss agency was only willing to reconstruct
houses with their owners present.
