ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - The question of UNPROFOR's mandate in
Croatia was closely connected with Serbian President Slobodan
Milosevic's recognition of Croatia, EU Monitor Mission chief Albert
Turot said today after meeting Croatian Presidential Chief of Staff
Hrvoje Sarinic.
The recognition of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina by Serbia,
as a way to overcome the present situation, was currently one of
the most important subjects, Turot said.
Turot said his talks with Sarinic focused on how to maintain
peace and resume negotiations with rebel Serbs, particurlary in the
economic field.
They also discussed a French initiative for a three-way
meeting in Paris of Presidents Tudjman, Izetbegovic and Milosevic.
Turot said he was not certain if the meeting could be held
this month.
He emphasized it would be better not to hurry too much but
make thorough preparations for the summit.
