BRUSSELS, Feb 3 (Hina) - Croatia's Ambassador to Belgium, Janko
Vranyczany-Dobrinovic, met West European Union Secreteray General
Jose Cutilhero on Thursday to explain why the Croatian president
had decided to cancel the UNPROFOR mandate in Croatia on March 31,
a Croatian Embassy statement said.
Vranyczany-Dobrinovic said that under certain conditions the
Croatian government was willing to consider the WEU's increased
involvement in supervising Croatia's borders with Bosnia-
Herzegovina and the rump Yugoslav federation of Serbia and
Montenegro, as well as its observer role in occupied areas.
Cutilhero said he would inform the WEU's president and council
of the talks. He added that the WEU was willing to continue its
assistance to the Croatian government in solving differences
regarding the establishment of a joint police force in Mostar.
