SARAJEVO, Feb 8 (Hina) - An estimated 2,851 travelers yesterday
used the 'blue routes' which cross the airport and link Sarajevo to
liberated territory in Bosnia.
Access to Sarajevo will remain open to civilian traffic
regardless of the postponement of a meeting today between Bosnian
Government officials and Bosnian Serbs. The parties were to have
discussed the conditions under which the routes could be opened to
humanitarian and commercial traffic.
UN spokesman in Sarajevo Aleksandar Ivanko said the planned
meeting was postponed because both parties wanted extra time to
consult on the proposed text of the agreement.
Sarajevo UNPROFOR headquarters confirmed that yesterday at 5pm
the first incident occurred on the Butmir-Dobrinja route when a car
swerving off the road hit a land mine and injured one person.
Nevertheless 'blue routes' will operate as normal, and travelers
were warned to strictly follow UNPROFOR's instructions.
