SARAJEVO, Feb 7 (Hina) - The traffic on 'blue routes' crossing
the Sarajevo airport runway had been running smoothly in the past
24 hours, with about 1,000 civilians in 232 cars and buses using
the roads to get in or out of Sarajevo, UN officials said.
The traffic on a road connecting the Bosnian army-controlled
districts of Dobrinja and Butmir was even heavier.
Some 650 passengers had travelled along the road in the first
half hour since it was opened, the UN said.
The Dobrinja-Butmir road is opened from 10am to noon and from
3pm to 5pm. A line of several hundred cars was formed in Dobrinja
at 5am this morning. Sarajevans go to Hrasnica to get fresh food
supplies at much lower prices than in their besiged city.
No special restrictions have been imposed on amounts of goods
brought into the city. UN personnel are checking cargoes to
prevent the transport of military equipment.
UNPROFOR expected the Sarajevo-Zenica road via Serb-held
Vogosca to open tomorrow. If this happened, only buses escorted
by UN armoured vehicles would be allowed to use the road.
Bosnian government and Serb representatives are to meet
tomorrow to discuss the opening of 'blue routes' to humanitarian
traffic.
