ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - A group of about 20 rebel Croatian Serbs
wounded on New Year's Eve two Canadian UN peacekeepers at
Kolarina in UNPA South, spraying their vehicle with 54 bullets,
UN spokesman Michael Williams told reporters in Zagreb today.
One soldier was hit by four or five bullets and the
other was hit three times. They were taken to a military hospital
at Zagreb's Pleso airport and were in stable condition, Williams
said.
Williams said it was one of the most serious incidents
in the UN-protected areas for a long time.
UN commander in former Yugoslavia Bertrand de Lapresle
yesterday strongly protested about the incident to Serb
negotiator Borislav Mikelic, demanding that perpetrators be
punished.
