Penic held that the organization of transitional police forces
was the main task in the introduction of law and order in that part
of Croatia.
He said that the forces should be composed of Croatian police
officers, as well as officer of national minorities, on an equal
basis.
Klein agreed that a police force organized in such a way
should be set in operation as soon as possible.
Klein informed Penic about measures he had taken to remove the
consequences of a grave incident which took place in the town of
Ilok on Christmas eve.
A group of Serb threw explosive devices at the local Roman
Catholic church of Ivan Kapistran during mass, and then burst in
and attacked Croats who had been attending the mass.
Klein also informed Penic about the results of buying weapons
in the Danubian area, in line with the Law on Arms.
