PRESIDENT TUDJMAN CONGRATULATES KOFI ANNAN ON ELECTION

ZAGREB, Dec 18 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Wednesday congratulated Kofi Annan on his election as UN Secretary General. In his message, Tudjman expressed a wish that during the Annan's term of office the United Nations would actively contribute to the establishment of peace in the world. Tudjman recalled their meeting at the time when Annan, in his capacity as UN Undersecretary for Peace-Keeping Operations, had been involved in efforts to resolve the crisis in the former Yugoslavia. Tudjman expressed confidence that their cooperation would continue in the spirit of friendship and that it would contribute to the establishment of lasting peace in South-Eastern Europe.
