ZAGREB, 19 Dec (Hina) - Croatian and Hungarian government
representatives and representatives of the U.N. Transitional
Administration in Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES) on Thursday signed an
agreement on the opening of a border-crossing between Hungary and a
part of Croatia which is under U.N. transitional administration, a
statement from the Government's public relations office said.
According to the agreement, the border-crossing will be used
for transport of goods and passage through the U.N.-administered
area to other parts of Croatia.
The border-crossing Knezevo-Udvar will be opened at the
beginning of January 1997.
According to the statement, the opening of the border-crossing
will secure the passage of freight vehicles with Croatian license
plates through Baranja (northern part of the U.N.-administered
area), for the first time since the occupation of that part of
Croatia.
