VUKOVAR, Nov 30 (Hina) - A memorandum on understanding on the
establishment of the Transitional Customs Service in the UNTAES-
controlled area (Croatian Danubian area) was signed in Vukovar on
Saturday.
The memorandum was signed by Josip Knezic, the head of the
Croatian Customs Administration, on behalf of the Croatian
Government and by Transitional Administrator Jacques Klein, on
behalf of the UNTAES.
A deputy spokesman to the UNTAES, Yuriy Chizhik, said it was
yet another important step in the reintegration of the UNTAES-
controlled area into the Republic of Croatia.
Knezic told Hina this evening that the agreement concerned
"both the customs and immigration services."
He announced the establishment of the Croatian customs offices
at the border between Croatia and the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia on Tuesday, December 3. Under the signed memorandum,
customs rules of the Republic of Croatia would be applied, he
added.
Knezic did not anticipate any problems in the establishment of
the Croatian custom services at the border crossings between
Croatia and Yugoslavia.
He added that logistic support, including banks, was to be
organized in the area.
