ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Saturday received the UN Transitional Administrator in the Danube
river region of eastern Croatia, Jacques Klein, the President's
Office said in a statement.
Klein informed President Tudjman about the progress that had
been made since a meeting with Serb representatives from the
region.
The President agreed that local administration offices should
be set up as soon as possible in line with the Croatian law so that
Croatian authority could be established immediately after local
elections in accordance with election results.
The President stressed the importance of the Croatian oil
company INA taking over petrol stations and Croatian customs
officials assuming control of the state border.
Klein said that Croatian customs officials would be deployed
at the state border in the first week of December.
The meeting was also attended by Presidential Chief of Staff
Hrvoje Sarinic, Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Kostovic and Deputy
Presidential Chief of Staff Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, the statement
concluded.
