ZAGREB, Dec 16 (Hina) - The founding of the Croatian government Office for Displaced Persons was the Croatian government's crucial strategic decision in 1991. Through the work of the Office, the government has succeeded in overcoming
the humanitarian crisis which threatened to topple the foundation of Croatian defense, Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Kostovic said at a gathering on occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Office on Monday.

Office for Displaced Persons was the Croatian government's crucial
strategic decision in 1991. Through the work of the Office, the
government has succeeded in overcoming the humanitarian crisis
which threatened to topple the foundation of Croatian defense,
Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Kostovic said at a gathering
on occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Office on Monday. #L#
Kostovic recalled that Croatia had accommodated many refugees
from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He stressed the significance of the return of 85,000 displaced
persons to the Croatian Danubian area, adding that "nobody must
give up until Croatia returns to Vukovar".
He also stressed the importance of the return of Serbs who
wanted to return "to their homes or to temporary accommodation".
