Croatian Vice-Premier Ljerka Mintas Hodak was nominated as
president of the National Committee.
The Committee is to be comprised of representatives of
thirteen ministries, as well as of the State Bureau of Statistics,
Office of Refugees and Displaced Persons and War Victims' Office.
A constitutive and working session of the National Committee
took place on Tuesday. State bodies are to prepare a plan of action
for spheres of care for children for which each one is responsible.
A seminar for members of the National Committee is to take
place in January 1997 with the support of UNICEF, so that the final
text of the plan could be drafted and realized as satisfactorily as
possible.
Non-governmental organizations would also participate in the
drafting and realization of the plan, the statement said.
