ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - The Croatian payment system should become
effective in UN-administered eastern Croatia by January 15 next
year, the president of the coordination committee of public
companies, Ivan Majdak, said on Monday.
"The National Bank of Croatia has assumed the responsibility
for introducing the Croatian payment system into the Danube river
region by January 15," Majdak said after a meeting of the
coordination committee in Zagreb.
Speaking of the reintegration of local public companies into
the Croatian system, Majdak said that it had been agreed with the
UN Transitional Administration in the region that Croatian public
companies should work out a reintegration plan in the next seven
days.
In the Eastern Slavonian town of Erdut last Monday, it was
agreed that agricultural companies from the region would deliver
lists of their employees and assets to step up the process of their
association with Croatian companies.
Majdak expressed a hope that the Vinkovci-Tovarnik railway
line would be opened in the next few days. "The Croatian section of
the railway is ready for opening, but there are some unresolved
issues with Yugoslav Railways," he said.
