OSIJEK, Nov 5 (Hina) - Technical problems of reintegration of
public companies in the Croatian Danubian area are quickly
overcome, but talks with the Serb side on solving organizing issues
come to a halt, Josip Galic, a member of the Croatian office for
restoration of Croatian authority in the Danubian area, said on
Friday.
The Serb side was still insisting on a high level of economic
autonomy, which is unacceptable, Galic, who is in charge of
economic issues, told a news conference in Osijek.
Such attitude impedes the process of reintegration of public
companies from which the Croatian Government and the UNTAES
expected to be driving forces of the peaceful reintegration.
Galic said the Croatian side had already prepared projects for
the December 6 conference of donors for the Croatian Danubian
area's reconstruction. The conference is organized by the UNTAES.
Galic reiterated the Croatian Government's views that the
reconstruction could be carried out only by companies that are
registered at Croatian commercial courts, and in line with projects
approved by the Croatian Government.
Another official of the Croatian office for the restoration of
Croatian power in the Danubian area, Tihomir Salajic, who is in
charge of public utilities issues, warned that some UN-administered
towns and villages in the area in question had no organized
transport of garbage. He added that the Croatian side had worked
out a programme for the immediate solution of the problem, and
proposed it to the UNTAES.
