ZAGREB, 22 Nov (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian Engine
Drivers' Union on Friday held a press conference at which they
stated that they would not take part in the general strike
announced by the Croatian Rail Workers' Union for 28 November. #L#
According to Nenad Mrgan, president of the Engine Drivers'
Union, 'a general strike can only slow down economic,
organizational, personnel and development processes which have
started in the Croatian Railways'.
The Engine Drivers' Union has sent a letter to the Government,
Parliament and the Croatian Railways Administration, demanding from
authorized state bodies to urgently solve problems of the Croatian
Railways.
In case those requests are not met, the Engine Drivers' Union
will take certain steps, which do not exclude a strike as a last
resort, Mrgan said.
